What's the difference between a CPA, an EA, and a bookkeeper?
CPA: Can provide such services as auditing, tax preparation and planning, financial analysis, payroll, and bookkeeping. Is state licensed and must pass 4 exams to become so. Must continuously do education to stay up to date.

EA: Can provide such services as tax preparation and planning, financial analysis, payroll, and bookkeeping. Is federally licensed and must pass 3 exams to become so. Must continuously do education to stay up to date.

Bookkeeper: Can provide such services as payroll and bookkeeping. Is NOT state licensed and does NOT have to take exams to become a bookkeeper. Does NOT need any continuing education to stay up to date.
